A survey on the export of gold cutting and forming machine tools in the United States in September 2011

Recently, the American Association of Manufacturing Technology (AMT) released the latest statistics on the import and export trade of metalworking machine tools in the United States in September 2011. In September 2011, the export value of metal processing machine tools in the United States was 223 million US dollars, down 0.89% from the previous month, but up 13.74% year-on-year; the import value was 417 million US dollars, down 6.88% from the previous month, but still a substantial increase of 96.33% year-on-year. In September, the U.S. trade deficit for metalworking machine tools was US$195 million, down 12.9% from the previous month, but significantly expanded by 10.73 times year-on-year. In the first three quarters of 2011, the United States exported a total of 1.975 billion US dollars of metal processing machine tools, an increase of 29% over the same period of 2010 of 1.532 billion US dollars; imported metal processing machine tools of 3.215 billion US dollars, an increase of 75.9% over the 1.828 billion US dollars in the same period of 2010. In the first nine months, the U.S. metalworking machine tool trade deficit reached $1.24 billion, an increase of 318.4% from $296 million in the same period last year. In September, the export of metal cutting and forming machine tools from the United States maintained growth. In September, the United States exported metal processing machine tools of 2.23 US dollars, of which CNC machine tools exported 86 million US dollars, down 5.5% from the previous month. In the first three quarters, the United States exported a total of 837 million US dollars of CNC machine tools, an increase of 26.6% over the 661 million US dollars in the same period in 2010. In the first three quarters, the export value of CNC machine tools in the United States accounted for 42.37% of the total export value. In terms of product types, in September, the United States exported US$153 million of metal cutting machine tools, a month-on-month increase of 5.6%; exports of metal forming machine tools were US$70 million, a month-on-month decrease of 12.6%. In the first three quarters, the United States exported a total of 1.307 billion US dollars of metal cutting machine tools, an increase of 30.5% over the same period of 2010 of 1.002 billion US dollars; the cumulative export of metal forming machine tools was 668 million US dollars, an increase of 26.1% over the 530 million US dollars in the same period of the previous year. CNC machine tools account for 70% of the total imports of metal processing machine tools. In September, the United States imported 417 million US dollars of metal processing machine tools, of which imported CNC machine tools were 298 million US dollars, down 3.2% from the previous month. In the first three quarters, the United States imported 2.256 billion US dollars of CNC machine tools, a substantial increase of 95.1% compared with 1.156 billion US dollars in the same period in 2010. In the first three quarters, the import value of CNC machine tools in the United States accounted for 70.16% of the total import value. In terms of product types, in September, the United States imported 338 million US dollars of metal cutting machine tools, a month-on-month increase of 4.1%; imported metal forming machine tools were 80 million US dollars, a month-on-month decrease of 17.2%. In the first three quarters, the United States imported a total of 2.594 billion US dollars of metal cutting machine tools, an increase of 84.4% over the same period of 2010 of 1.407 billion US dollars; the cumulative imported metal forming machine tools were 621 million US dollars, an increase of 47.4% over the 421 million US dollars in the same period of 2010.
