Cumulative Analysis of US Machine Tool Orders in July 2012

According to the data released by the American Association of Manufacturing Technology, in July 2012, the US machine tool order value was 450 million US dollars, a decrease of 2.3% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 10.5%; the order volume was 1,987 units, a month-on-month decrease of 10.5% and a year-on-year decrease of 3.0%. Among them, the order value of metal cutting machine tools was 370 million US dollars, a decrease of 10.0% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 5.9%; the order volume was 1,849 units, a month-on-month decrease of 9.0% and a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%. The order value of metal forming and processing machine tools was 75.37 million US dollars, an increase of 69.6% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 28.0%; the order volume was 138 units, a month-on-month decrease of 25% and a year-on-year decrease of 19.3%. From January to July 2012, the US metal processing machine tool orders amounted to 3.13 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, and the order volume totaled 15,132 units, with a monthly average of 2,282 units. Among them, metal cutting machine tools were US$2.80 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%; metal forming and processing machine tools were US$330 million, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%.
