According to a recent press conference held by the Italian Machine Tool and Automation Manufacturers Association (UCIMU-SISTEMIPERPRODURRE), in 2011, the output value of the Italian machine tool, robot and automation industry was 5.019 billion euros, an increase of 19.6% compared to last year's 4.196 billion euros. This growth was driven by a strong 29.3% increase in exports of Italian machine tools and automation products to 3.367 billion euros. According to relevant data released by the research department of the Italian Machine Tool and Automation Manufacturers Association, in the first eight months of this year, Italian products were exported to China, Germany, the United States, Brazil, France, India, Russia, Turkey, Spain and other countries. The data shows that the total value of machine tool products exported to Germany was 228 million euros, an increase of 62.9%; the export value to the United States was 170 million euros, an increase of 99.4%; the export value to Brazil was 115 million euros, an increase of 84.1%; Products to France totalled 105 million euros, an increase of 23.2%. Products exported to India, Russia, Turkey, Poland and other countries have increased to varying degrees. In contrast, the total value of Italian machine tool products exported to China fell slightly by 0.4%, but still ranked first in Italian machine tool product exports with a total value of 240 million euros. The Italian Machine Tool and Automation Manufacturers Association also said that compared with the strong momentum of the overseas market, the domestic market situation is not optimistic. The domestic machine tool market consumption reached 2.761 billion euros, an increase of only 11.9%. The slow growth in domestic market demand also reflected a slow recovery in manufacturers' deliveries, which increased by only 3.8% to not exceed EUR 1.652 billion.
