In March 2012, the order, production, export and import data of Korean machine tools increased significantly from the previous month. According to China Machine Tool Network | Aoli Network, in March 2012, new orders for Korean machine tools were 368.518 billion won, an increase of 7.84% from the previous month. In the first quarter, new orders for Korean machine tools were 992.624 billion won. In March 2012, the output value of Korean machine tools was 293.483 billion won, a month-on-month increase of 7.14%. The output value in the first quarter was 814.298 billion won. In terms of import and export trade, in March, South Korea imported 160 million US dollars of machine tools, a month-on-month increase of 39.47%; exported machine tools of 248 million US dollars, a month-on-month increase of 9.45%, achieving a trade surplus of 88 million US dollars. In the first quarter, imports were US$372 million and exports were US$619 million, achieving a surplus of US$247 million. Since September 2011, South Korea's machine tool trade surplus has gradually increased, reaching the highest in December. In January 2012, the decline in exports was greater than the decline in imports, and the trade surplus decreased. Exports continued to increase in February, and the trade surplus continued to increase.
