In May 2011, US metalworking machine tool consumption was $388 million, down 2.6% from $398 million in the previous month, but up 121.3% from $175 million in May 2010. From January to May 2011, the cumulative consumption of metal processing machine tools in the United States was 1.985 billion US dollars, an increase of 108% compared with the 954 million US dollars in the same period in 2010. In terms of product categories, in May 2011, the orders for metal cutting machine tools and metal forming machine tools in the United States were 2,016 and 1,146, respectively, both increased from the previous month. In May 2011, the consumption of metal cutting machine tools was US$352 million, down 2.9% from US$363 million in the previous month, but up 114.1% from US$165 million in May 2010; consumption of metal forming and manufacturing machine tools It was US$35.75 million, an increase of 0.6% from US$35.54 million in the previous month, and a significant increase of 231.8% from US$10.78 million in May 2010. From January to May 2011, the consumption of metal cutting machine tools in the United States was 1.824 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 108.3%; the consumption of metal forming and manufacturing machine tools was 161 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 104.1%. Peter Borden, chairman of AMTDA, pointed out: 'May's order data shows that the member companies of the association continue to maintain strong production momentum.
