The latest statistics from the Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (KOMMA) show that in November 2009, the output value of machine tools produced in South Korea was 197.82 billion won (100 yuan is about 16,663 won), an increase of 46.61% month-on-month and a slight increase of 0.3% year-on-year; Machine tool orders were KRW 177.792 billion, down 22.68% month-on-month and up 4.5% year-on-year. In the first 11 months of 2009, South Korea's cumulative machine tool orders reached 1,683.567 billion won, and the cumulative machine tool output value was 1,538.732 billion won. In terms of import and export, in November 2009, South Korea imported 120.52 million US dollars of machine tools, an increase of 35.61% month-on-month and an increase of 88.3% year-on-year; exported machine tools 150.11 million US dollars, a significant increase of 124.3% month-on-month and 8.0% year-on-year. From January to November 2009, South Korea's cumulative import value of machine tools was 996.08 million US dollars, and the cumulative export value of machine tools was 1,073.49 million US dollars. It can be seen that, affected by the global economic downturn, South Korea's exports to the United States, Europe and emerging markets have decreased significantly, while exports to China have risen slightly. China is still the largest exporter of Korean machine tools.
