Machine tool company Makino Milling Tool Co., Ltd. will build a new factory in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture by the end of 2009. In addition to concentrating the production of machine tool peripherals in the new plant, a facility for developing and verifying processing technologies for aircraft parts and the like will be installed. Currently, the demand for machine tools is decreasing due to the slowdown in the economic situation in developed countries, but the company believes that orders will increase in the medium to long term, so it intends to continue to make active investments. The current investment is about 6 billion yen. This is the company's first new factory in Japan since it established the Fuji Katsuyama Works (Fujikawaguchiko-machi) in 1987. About 120,000 square meters of land will be acquired in Fujiyoshida City. The production of peripheral devices such as automatic tool changers will also be concentrated in the new factory to improve factory efficiency and reduce costs.
