Japan's total orders for machine tools in June totaled 109.06 billion yen, an increase of 4.5% over May, and a month-on-month increase for two consecutive months. But the figure was down 19.9% u200bu200bfrom June last year, marking the 11th consecutive month of year-on-year declines. Total orders exceeded 100 billion yen for two consecutive months. Total domestic orders in Japan were 50.76 billion yen in June, up 30.6% from May, the first month-on-month increase in three months. That's down 15.8 percent from June last year, the fifth consecutive year-on-year decline this year. In major industries, compared with May, orders for industrial machinery rose 39.0% in June, orders for automobile manufacturing rose 22.0%, orders for electronics and precision machinery rose 47.6%, and orders for aviation, shipbuilding and transportation equipment rose 19.2%. Japan's foreign trade orders totaled 58.30 billion yen, down 11.0% from May, the first month-on-month decline in two months. Compared with the same period last year, it fell by 23.1%; it was the 13th consecutive month of decline. From the perspective of order area, Asian orders fell by 3.4% compared with May, with a total order value of 25.57 billion yen; compared with the same period last year, it fell by 27.9%. European orders fell by 11.6% compared with May, with a total order value of 14.08 billion yen; compared with the same period last year, it was down 13.5%. North American orders totaled 17.76 billion yen, down 20.4% from May and down 20.1% from the same period last year.
