Statistics on the year-on-year growth of Japanese machine tool orders in November 2011

On December 12, 2011, the latest initial value data of machine tool orders announced by the Japan Machine Tool Industry Association (JMTBA) showed that in November 2011, Japan's machine tool orders were 112.028 billion yen, an increase of 10.8% month-on-month and 15.9% year-on-year. This has been the 24th consecutive month that the year-on-year increase has been maintained. In the first 11 months, except for August, the monthly machine tool orders for the other 10 months exceeded 100 billion yen. From January to November 2011, Japan's cumulative machine tool orders amounted to 1.21 trillion yen, an increase of 37.6% over the same period in 2010. It is expected that in 2011, the total amount of Japanese machine tool orders will exceed 1.3 trillion yen, an increase of about 30% year-on-year, and basically return to the level of 2008. From the perspective of domestic and foreign demand, in November, Japan's domestic machine tool orders were 37.731 billion yen, an increase of 19% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 22%; overseas machine tool orders were 74.297 billion yen, an increase of 7.1% from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 13% . From January to November, the cumulative domestic orders for Japanese machine tools were 386.241 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 39.9%; the cumulative overseas orders were 823.996 billion yen, a year-on-year increase of 36.5%.
