U.S. machine tool makers seek new ways to trade cooperation

by:Gewinn     2022-04-26
A cooperative group of machine tool manufacturers, formed by the American Machine Tool Distributors Association (AMTDA) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, is organizing a new trade event and announcing it will 'reinvigorate American manufacturing.' The event, called imX (Interactive Manufacturing Experience), is a manufacturing experience exchange that will be held in Las Vegas in September 2011. The organization pointed out that they will work with partner companies to open factories, customer training seminars and new product launches. Don Lane, CEO of Makino, noted that OEMs have found ways to promote new manufacturing technologies through a 'show-focused' approach. In addition to Makino, OEMs such as DMG Mori Seiki, Doosan Doosan, FANUC CNC, Meg MAG, Okuma America and Sandvik Coromant will all be participating in imX. These companies and the two aforementioned industry associations have spent more than two years researching and creating imX's cooperation model. Larry Schwartz, president and chief operating officer of Okuma America, noted that imX will bring together OEMs and their partners to help decision makers see options in an area, compare price and value, and make better decisions. Decide. 'I expect imX to be an industry-changing thing,' said Makino's Lane. 'It's a fresh approach that can appeal to console companies and users. We'll focus on delivering breakthrough technologies that help customers find what they need. services and assist in organizing high-level private meetings. imX will provide a measurable ROI and clients will get real value from Las Vegas.”
