U.S. machine tool orders in August 2012 were $470 million

According to data released by the American Manufacturing Technology Association, in August 2012, the US machine tool order value was 470 million US dollars, an increase of 3.4% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%; the order volume was 2,156 units, an increase of 7.1% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%. Among them, the order value of metal cutting machine tools was 430 million US dollars, an increase of 12.3% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 5.6%; the order volume was 2011 units, an increase of 7.3% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4.0%. The order value of metal forming and processing machine tools was 44.93 million US dollars, a decrease of 40.7% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 4.8%; the order volume was 145 units, an increase of 4.3% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%. In the first eight months of 2012, the order value of metal processing machine tools was 3.61 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%, and the monthly average order volume was 2,291 units. Among them, metal cutting machine tools were US$3.23 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%; metal forming and processing machine tools were US$380 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.0%.
