According to the statistics of the Korea Machine Tool Manufacturers Association (KOMMA), in December 2011, the new orders for Korean machine tools were 284.017 billion won, an increase of 2.11% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 8.33%. From January to December 2011, the cumulative new orders for Korean machine tools were 4.33 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 23.56%. In December 2011, the output value of Korean machine tools was 317.758 billion won, an increase of 9.49% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 8.26%. From January to December 2011, the total value of machine tools produced in South Korea was 3.48 trillion won, a year-on-year increase of 22.67%. In terms of import and export trade, in December 2011, the value of imported machine tools from South Korea was 147 million US dollars, an increase of 4.01% from the previous month and a year-on-year decrease of 11.24%; From January to December 2011, South Korea's accumulated import value of machine tools was 1.791 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 23.99%; the cumulative export of machine tools was 2.302 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 37.18%. From January to December 2011, South Korean machine tools achieved a trade surplus of US$511 million.
