machines begin tunnelling for eglinton crosstown lrt

After a tunnel, the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT line is in full swing
Today, in the west end of the city near heixi Avenue, boring machines broke ground.
Two machines.
Dennis and Lee represent the community of Dennis Hill and lyside
The underground part of the line will be excavated to head east towards Yongji Street at a speed of about 10 to 15 metres per day.
According to CBC reporter Shannon Martin, before noon, traffic on Eglinton Avenue near Keeler Street was driven along a lane in each direction.
The second tunnel-
Boringmachines, named Don and Humber, will eventually dig west from Leslie Street.
Metrolinx animation in Eglinton croslrt tunnel province has listed the project as the largest public transport construction project in more than half a century, and says the line will help ease congestion, create thousands of jobs.
Ontario Transport Minister Glenn Murray said in a press release: \"Our government is pushing forward the largest transit investment of a generation to drive the development of the region . \".
\"The new Eglinton croslrt line will allow commuters to work, go to school and play faster than ever before --
60 cents faster than today.
\"It is expected that by 2020, the entire Crosstown light rail line will extend 19 kilometers along Eglinton Avenue and more than 10 kilometers underground.
The line will include up to 25 stations and will connect 54 local bus lines, 3 TTC transfer Metro stations and GO Transit.
