Yamazaki Mazak launches its 5-axle MC developed in Europe on the Japanese market

Japan's Yamazaki Mazak (Headquarters: Oguchi-cho, Aichi Prefecture) exhibited at the '24th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2008)' (October 30 to November 4, 2008, Ariake International Convention Center, Tokyo) Vertical 5-axis machining center (MC) 'VTC-800/30SR'. The product was successfully developed by the company's European production base and was previously mainly sold in the European market. Considering the rising demand for complex machining in Japan, it was decided to put this model on the Japanese market. The VTC-800/30SR has 5-axis degrees of freedom in addition to the three axes of XYZ, plus two axes B (the direction of rotation of the main axis with the depth direction) and C (the direction of rotation of the turntable with the height direction as the axis). The strokes of the XYZ axes are 3000mm, 800mm, and 720mm, respectively, and the rotation angles of the BC are ±110° and 360°, respectively. The turntable of the C-axis can be disassembled, and the turntable can only be removed when machining long workpieces. After removing the turntable, since the B-axis can still be rotated by ±110°, both sides can be machined. Figure 1 5-axis vertical MC 'VTC-800/30SR' The size of the worktable is 3500×820mm, the feed rate is 50m/min (X/Y/Z), and the maximum spindle rotation speed is 18,000 rpm. The handle model is MAS BT-40. Usually, European users (processing enterprises) mainly contract the 'high value-added' production of complex processing business with high difficulty and unit price. Such users prefer equipment that can complete various processing with only one unit. The processing business for the aerospace industry and the advanced medical industry belongs to this category. Yamazaki Mazak predicts that the number of users in this high value-added market in Japan will increase in the future, so he plans to introduce this device to Japanese users while testing the market demand. The price is expected to be around 50 million yen. Figure 2 The situation when the B-axis is rotated by 90° to machine the side of the workpiece.
