First tunnel driver for MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP)
Despite the difficult geological conditions, the line was successfully completed, marking an important milestone in construction. The 1.
The 9 km tunnels between Bandar North MRT station and Chan Sow Lin MRT station in Malaysia lasted 11 months and used the same tunnel boring machine (TBM)
First successful tunnel driving for MRT Sungai Buloh
Line Kajang on January 2014.
SSP production line underground engineering contractor, MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T)
Datuk Ubull Din Om, director of Sdn Bhd construction, said ground conditions were not good compared to Line 1, so deploying tunnel tunnels on the other side was an achievement.
\"Castile limestone is known for its unpredictable ground conditions, which puts it at risk for the operation of the TBM.
The experience gained on Line 1 of the tunnel allowed them to take precautions to make sure the process went more smoothly, said Ubull.
He said that they were very careful when going through two of the most sensitive areas, that is, busy 13-
Under real-time tracks near Jalan Sungai Besi and Chan Sow Lin LRT stations.
Ubull pointed out that in 2003, many sinkholes were formed in the same area in the intelligent tunnel project, causing ground traffic and human activities to be interrupted.
Several steps have been taken to ensure the safety and timely completion of the tunnel, said Ubull.
\"We enhanced our TBM from Line 1 and learned how to predict the sinkhole based on past experience, conducted a very good soil survey using experienced tunnel staff,
\"This is a comprehensive effort to leverage technology and humanity.
\"We have two teams walking in front of the TBM to detect any ground movement,\" he said . \".
There are 16 tunnel drivers that need to be drilled, with a cumulative length of 13.
The underground section of SSP line is 5 km.
Datuk najimuddin Abdullah, director of strategic communications and stakeholder relations at MRT Sdn Bhd, said that as of December 2018, the entire construction was on track with a completion rate of 41%.
\"We are confident that the project will be delivered as scheduled.
\"We have 12 TBMs, 5 are running, and 7 TBMs will be launched by the end of this year.
Some TBMs will handle two tunnel drives.
\"The already arrived TBM will go through the Chan Sow Lin station box and then start digging back into the second tunnel drive between the Chan Sow Lin station box and the Tun Razak Exchange MRT station.
\"Once it reaches the Tun Razak Exchange MRT station, it will be disassembled and partially retrieved,\" he said . \".
The SSP line is scheduled to be completed by 2022.
