Japan's April machine tool orders increased by 220.9% year-on-year

The Japan Machine Tool Industry Association (JMTBA) announced on May 25 the accurate statistics of its member units' machine tool orders in April this year. The data shows that Japan's machine tool orders totaled 80.825 billion yen in April, an increase of 6.6% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 220.9%. Japan's machine tool orders achieved rapid year-on-year growth for five consecutive months. Among them, CNC machine tool orders were 77.791 billion yen, an increase of 7.2% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 224.3%, and CNC machine tool orders accounted for 96.2% of the total orders. In April, Japan's domestic orders were 22.2 billion yen, an increase of 15.1% month-on-month and an increase of 82.1% year-on-year. During the same period, overseas orders amounted to 58.625 billion yen, an increase of 3.7% month-on-month and a substantial increase of 351.2% year-on-year. The data shows that overseas orders are picking up faster and expanding. JMTBA said that in April, orders for machine tools in Japan's domestic general machinery manufacturing, automobile industry, electrical and precision machinery manufacturing, and transportation industries such as aircraft and ships increased significantly, especially for aircraft, ships and other transportation machinery industries. It jumped 200.3% to 970 million yen. Among overseas orders, China ranks first, with a slight decrease of 2.5% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 304.6%, accounting for 36.6% of Japan's total overseas orders, and its proportion has declined; the United States ranks second, with a month-on-month increase of 11% and a year-on-year increase of 315.2% %, and the proportion of total overseas orders rose to 18.1%.
