Japan's core machinery orders fell sharply in November, the government said on Thursday, the first drop in three months, as slow global growth weighed on Japan's business climate. On a seasonally adjusted basis, core machinery orders decreased by 14.4% month-on-month in November. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal and The Nikkei had expected core machinery orders in Japan to fall 7.8% in November. Japan's core machinery orders rose 1.2% year-on-year in November. Despite the sharp month-on-month drop in core machinery orders in November, the Japanese government kept its forecast unchanged, citing signs that machinery orders are increasing.
