Data released by the Cabinet Office of Japan on November 12 showed that the number of core machinery orders in Japan in September this year increased by 7.5% compared with the previous month. It is expected to rise 4.3%. Compared with the same period a year ago, core orders fell by 1.7% in September. The increase in core machinery orders (excluding ships and generator sets) in September was mainly due to higher orders for equipment required in the construction, chemical and public transport sectors, the data showed. However, companies expect orders to rise by 2.9% in October-December, a slight rebound from the 10% decline in July-September. An independent Reuters survey also showed that companies did not expect order growth to pick up before next year.
