According to Kyodo News on July 1, Japan's Kyocera Corporation announced on June 30 that it will build a new factory in Jiangxi Province, China. The new plant will produce machine tools for processing metal parts such as car engines, and sell them mainly to local auto parts makers. Due to strong local demand, the production system in China will be strengthened. The new plant is scheduled to be put into operation in January 2016, with an investment of about several billion yen. This will be Kyocera's fourth machine tool production base in China. These bases in China strive to achieve sales of 25 billion yen (about 1.3 billion yuan) by fiscal year 2018, which is about twice that of fiscal year 2014. A joint venture company established by Kyocera with a local company in January 2015 will be responsible for operating the new plant. Kyocera also manufactures machine tools overseas, including in the United States and India.
