Japan's top five automakers report first-half results

Data released by Japan's five major automakers on the 29th showed that in the first half of this year, domestic sales of Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi fell while exports increased. The situation with Honda is just the opposite. The domestic sales of Toyota Motor Corporation (including Daihatsu and Hino) in the first half of the year were approximately 1.177 million vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%; exports were 1.465 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Toyota's global production in the first half of the year was approximately 4.985 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. In the first half of the year, Nissan Motor Corporation sold 389,000 vehicles domestically, down 0.8% year-on-year; exported 408,000 vehicles, up 55.4% year-on-year; global production reached 1.833 million vehicles, up 11.3% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, Mazda Motor Corporation’s domestic sales reached 135,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%; its exports were 459,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%; and its global production was 708,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. In the first half of the year, Mitsubishi Motors' domestic sales were 107,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.3%; its exports were 335,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 20.9%; global production was 691,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%. Contrary to the situation of the above-mentioned four major manufacturers, Honda Motor Company's domestic sales in the first half of the year increased by 3.1% year-on-year to 332,000 units; exports were 321,000 units, down 5.4% year-on-year; global production was 1.987 million units, an increase of 1.6%.
