Japan will start the research and development of a new generation of robot innovative technology

by:Gewinn     2022-05-10
Japan's New Energy Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) announced on July 23 that it will start research and development of innovative technologies to support a new generation of robots. The work has a total of 18 themes, including olfactory sensors to find missing people in disasters, artificial muscles that could benefit nursing care, and more. The agency will advance a society where robots and humans coexist. The University of Tokyo, Sumitomo Chemical Corporation and Kanagawa Institute of Science and Technology will draw on the olfactory structure of insects to develop sensors that sense the smell of human sweat. In the future, it can be installed on the robot to quickly find the missing person and prevent the secondary disaster of the rescue team. Shinshu University will cooperate with the Research Institute of Industrial Technology to research and develop artificial muscles for assistive robotic clothing worn by the human body. The research teams at Nagoya University and Kyushu University are also planning to actively use artificial muscles to develop assistive mechanical equipment that can help the human body move. This series of studies will use grants from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's New Generation Robot Core Technology Development Project to be commissioned by NEDO to universities or companies. The study ends in 2019, and the budget for 2015 totals 1 billion yen (about 50 million yuan).
