Japan Machine Tool Builders Association (JMTBA) on March 8 announced the initial value of Japanese machine tool orders in February, showing that in February 2010, the country's machine tool orders were 64.787 billion yen, an increase of 17.6% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 217.3%. Among them, Japan's domestic machine tool orders amounted to 20.343 billion yen, an increase of 29% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 144.2%. The order value of overseas machine tools was 44.444 billion yen, an increase of 13% month-on-month and a substantial increase of 267.7% year-on-year, showing that the overseas machine tool market has a more obvious recovery than the Japanese domestic market.
