The Laser Society of America is holding a Symposium on Laser Additive Manufacturing in San Antonio, Texas, USA, March 3-4. Paul Denny of the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) and Dr. James W. Sears of the South Dakota Institute of Mines and Technology served as co-chairs of the meeting. The symposium will bring together laser end users, academic researchers, researchers in universities and governments, national laboratories, and industry experts from around the world to advance this state-of-the-art process that can effectively and cost-effectively address today's manufacturing problems. Seminar featured topics include: Rapid Prototyping of Functional Parts, Production of Low Volume High Value Components, Surface Treatment of New and Used Parts (Wear Resistance, Corrosion Protection), Repair/Refurbishment (Cladding) of Remanufactured Parts.
