The service life of tools such as end mills treated with the new coating technology is three times that of the original, which can greatly improve the efficiency of mold processing. Hitachi Tool Co., Ltd. will replace titanium and aluminum coatings with Si-based coatings in the future. From the end of 2001, the company will market products such as new coated end mills to the automotive industry. The price of the new coating products is about 10% higher than that of the original coating products.
