According to the latest data released by the Tokyo Business Survey, a private survey agency in Japan, in June 2010, the number of closed enterprises in Japan was 1,148, a year-on-year decrease of 19.2%, a year-on-year decline for 11 consecutive months; , a year-on-year decrease of 40.5%, a year-on-year decrease for five consecutive months; the proportion of 'depressed' closed enterprises was as high as 83.6%, the second highest level in the history of a single month. In the first half of this year, 6,790 companies with a total debt of more than 10 million yen in Japan closed down, down 16.9% year-on-year. In all 10 industries in the statistics, the number of closed enterprises in the manufacturing industry decreased year-on-year. The agency said that the effect of measures taken by the Japanese government to improve the financing environment for small and medium-sized enterprises and the improvement of the situation of large enterprises were the main reasons for the decrease in the number of closed companies in the first half of this year. At the same time, more than 80% of the total number of 'depressed' closed companies indicates that Japan's deflationary situation is still severe. As the stimulus effect of the policy fades, the number of closed companies is likely to increase in the second half of this year.
